Well hello. I've been tossing up as to whether I should join pretty much since it opened, but I've decided I should. So, the requested introductory post.
Hi, I'm Christie (age is 19 for those who want to know =P). I live in Australia, and due to this, I'm often subjected to having to see a movie months after the rest of the world. But even so, I'm just a poor university student, so I never go see movies anyway. I love all the CGI movies and can't wait for the next two to arrive in cinemas (Pixar's Cars and Dreamwork's (I think) Madagascar). Comedies are my favourite.
As for music, I like most genres. I can't stand country - at all, and rap is a close second. I'm a closet teenybopper and I don't care what other people think of that =P My favourite singer is Sheryl Crow, and my favourite album is Since I Left You by The Avalanches.
Books. I love reading. I don't do it as often as I used to, but it's still a great relaxant. I guess I have a limited reading range because I only tend to read books targeted at the young adult area (I guess that's where they're aimed). I'm not the least bit interested in reading the classics. My favourite author is Nick Earls. I've also recently (well, in the last 2 or 3 years) discovered an author by the name of Kathy Reichs. She writes crime novels, but they aren't really of the whodunnit kind. An excellent author in my opinion. And Tara Moss is the third author that I really love reading books of. My favourite series of books is the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (of which I will be seeing the movie on this coming Thursday!). I unfortunately haven't read Mostly Harmless yet because I haven't bought it yet (I'm one of those people who has to have series of books having the same cover and I don't think it's produced with the same cover as the editions I have). But I do have the illustrated HHGTTG, which is way cool.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot to do TV, so here goes. I actually don't watch a whole lot of TV. I have my favourite shows, and I watch those, but I'm not one to actively watch programs that I'm not interested in. That being said, I'm a big documentary fan and throughout my whole life my family has always watched nature documentaries by David Attenborough. I also like watching semi-autobiographical (I guess?) programs like Long Way to the Top, which was about the Australian music scene. At the moment I'm hooked on Lost. I'm a quiz show junkie and my favourite at the moment is an Aussie music quiz program called Spicks and Specks. No list would be complete without the mandatory Simpsons being on there either.
I'm open to trying new things, and even though I don't read/watch/listen to much, I'll still review what I can.
Anyway, so I've bored you with all that. But that's ok because I've finished =P
